Yule Feast and Holly & Ivy Pas d'Arms -- Jabal al-Samira

January 8-9, 1994 (AS XXVIII)

Site: Lempe Park (Tourney), Gardnerville, NV

From The Page (January, 1994):

Jabal al-Samira's infamous Yule Feast is alive and well. The feast site opens at 3 p.m., dinner will be served at 5 p.m. and the site closes at 10 p.m. Come celebrate a Yuletide in Brittany, as Celtic types and French types gather to mingle in Medieval Armorica. The tables will groan beneath a wide array of courses. Beaste of land, sea and sky; along with the bounty of the harvest shall be presented. After dinner the legendary dessert table of doom will tempt and torture all who see it. There will be games and live entertainment. Seating is very limited, so you must call ahead and make reservations. Tickets are $12 plus two canned food items. The food items will be donated to the local food closet. Children 12 and under are $3.

Sunday morning will bring Madog, Defender of Jabal al Samira to Lampe Park in Gardnerville for a 10 a.m. to noon Pas d' Arms (details available upon request). Also there will be a Pole Arm and a Great Sword tourney (for weapons 6 ft. or greater). Loaner weapons and gauntlets are available. This Tourney will start around noon and be completed by 2:30 p.m. There is a small entry fee of $1. Wear your best tourney surcoats and bring your banners and list pennants as this is an 11th to 13th century style tourney. Prizes include several 7 1/2 foot sticks of rattan and other goodies.
