Tourney and Valentine's Revel -- Golden Rivers

February 13, 1994 (AS XXVIII)

Site: Polish American Hall, Roseville, CA

From The Page (January, 1994):

Golden Rivers welcomes one and all to attend its Championship Tourney and Valentine's Revel at the Polish American Hall in Roseville. Only fighters from Golden Rivers, Dangeld Tor and Betony Woods are eligible to fight in the Tourney, and it is requested that the winner and runner up plan on attending the Revel to preside over the high table. List signups start at 10:30 a.m. and close at 11:30, armor inspection begins at 11 and ends at noon. The feast hall opens at 2:30 and there are limited kitchen facilities and lots of electrical outlets. The feast will start at approximately 7 p.m., after the bardic competition. Potluck assignments are by mundane last name and are: A-M main dish; N-Z side dishes. Breads, condiments and snacks are to be brought in addition to, not instead of, assigned dishes. To avoid another famine, if you do not bring food, please do not line up to eat. Site fee will be $4, children under 12 free.

Competitions: hobbyhorse jousting (for the under fourteen set) and decorate a heart (cake) will be ongoing during the day. Materials will be provided for both competitions. The bardic competition will be conducted all day, with the miscellaneous entertainment section judged incognito during the day, and the formal performance starting at 5 p.m. after the fighting. Criteria for bardic performance will be published in The Current, or contact Adellind for further details. Judging for the ever popular heart on your sleeve competition will be after the feast, and the things we do for love storytelling competition will be held also after dinner.

Autocrat: Anne O'Locksley (name/contact info).
