Site: Gardner's Cove, Modesto, CA
From The Page (June, 1993):
This year, the Barony of Fett Burg will be holding it's Championship Tourney at Gardner's Cove Resort, 11 miles west of Modesto. This is the same site that was used for March Crown this year. The site opens at noon on Friday and will close at 6 p.m. on Sunday. The site fee is $5 per person over 12 years old. There is also is a $10 fee for merchants. Please contact the autocrat to reserve space on Merchant's Row for your booth.
The event will also mark the inauguration of the Baroness's Honor Guard Tourney. This will be held annually to serve as a test for admission as a Guardsman or a Marksman into Her Excellency's Honor Guard. Details on the qualifications will be printed in the Baronial newsletter, The Skald, and will be available from the autocrat either by mail or in person at other events. These positions are similar to the Sergeant and Yeoman programs used in An Tir but have been adapted to better fit Western needs.
Lists sign-ups will be held Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 and on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 11. The heavy weapons list for the championship of Fett Burg will start at noon on Saturday.
The Archery Championship will take place on Sunday at noon. The archery championship will be based on combined scores in both a Royal Round and a J.K.C.A.C. Round. There will be an extensive archery field set up on both days for use in the Marksman tests.
The site is large with many old oak trees for shade. The San Joaquin River Basically surrounds the site. Although neither deep nor swift in this area it represents a hazard to be aware of particularly for children. Swimming is not allowed due to quicksand and many lost fish hooks in the river.
We have showers and limited flush privies. Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash. No ground fires are allowed and raised fires should be closely watched. There is a small store on site with firewood, block and bag ice, sodas, beer, snacks, and propane.
Autocrat: Cybi di Elmhurst (name/contact info).
