The Twenty-eighth Year

Dessert and Dance Revel -- Eskalya

January 1, 1994 (AS XXVIII)

Site: Mountain View Rec. Center, Anchorage, AK

From The Page (December, 1993):

Once again, the joyous season of Christmas is soon to be upon us and it will be time for friends and family to gather together in celebration of this wondrous event. So, put on your finest attire, prepare your favorite dessert, and polish up your dancing shoes. The Barony of Eskalya wishes to extend warm greetings to its Oerthan neighbors both near and far and also hearty invitations to all to attend a revel of the Christmas spirit. Come and enjoy the warmth of friends and good activities.

As with last year, a competition to choose the new Master or Mistress of Ambrosia will take place. Win the bells and then lead the Barony's pastry and sweets endeavors for the next year. The rules are the same as last year: There are no rules. There is, however, a theme. As Christmas time occurs over twelve days (Christmas to Epiphany), the Baroness wishes the dessert contest to reflect twelve's in a Yuletide manner. You are only limited to the size of the Mountain View Rec Center for your entry, so twelve Christmas trees probably won't work (and remember it has to edible besides).

This year, as last, all artists and craftsmen are encouraged to bring examples of their handiwork for all to see. This is not a contest but a display so the others can see what you do and have done and, if interested, ask questions about your work. These need not be newly completed or completed at all. Items completed years before and projects still under way are equally encourages.

The revel will be held on january 1 at the Mountain View Recreation Center at (address omitted). The fee is $4 per person with a $1 discount for individuals bringing a dessert. The site opens at 7 p.m. and closes at 11 p.m. and alcohol is not allowed. If you have any questions, please contact Cedrin Etainnighean (name/contact info).
