Site: Coyote Lake, Gilroy, CA
From The Page (October, 1993):
Gypsies residing deep in the forests of Darkwood have spotted their Baron's lost treasure chest in the hands of some Westermarkian brewers. Wilhelm's request to have the treasure returned has been ignored. So he has openly declared war against the Barony of Westermark to be fought on Saturday, October 20, at Coyote Lake in Gilroy.
Site opens at 9 a.m. Lists close at noon and the first battle will start around noon. The barons have planned open field and lakebed battles for both heavies and lights (yes, this means combat archery using golf tubes and Markland blunts).
Arts and Sciences competitions include: (1) Best Gypsy Garb, handmade or purchased, under $20; (2) Brewing, ales and meads to be judged separately; and (3) Best Embroidered Gypsy Accessory, can be a scarf, shawl, war favor, belt, etc. and can be appliqueed, beaded, quilted, needlepoint, cross stitched, etc.
Please bring donated items (including baked goods) to fill the two baronial treasure chests which will be shared by the victorious fighters and field assistants (water bearers, marshals, chirurgeons and heralds).
Park fee is $3 per car at the gate and site fee is $2 per person.
Autocrat: Wilhelm von Zweikopffeigen Falke (name/contact info).
