Tis' time to start thinking about the upcoming Twelfth Night. This coming year it will be held in the good township of Modesto, located in the Barony of Fettburg. The site will be held at the (Modesto) Civic Center, which is connected to a Red Lion Inn. The Center has a beautiful, large revel area, with outside areas for our wanderings.

There are going to be rooms available for the populace's overnight stay. We have reserved a limited number of rooms at the Red Lion for those who wish to stay dose to the revelry. Rooms are going for $72 for a single, a double, or a double - double. We're told these rooms can hold up to and induding six people. Reservations will have to be made for the rooms. Please mention that you are an SCA member for these special prices! Reservations can be made by calling the Red Lion Inn at (phone). (We will also be checking around the area for other accommodations).

Also, due to site restrictions, there won't be any organized feasting, or alcohol allowed to be brought on site. The Red Lion will have a wet-bar set-up in the dining halls for beer and wine purchase and consumption. There will be no kitchen facilities available for our use.

Along the wall are ample plug-ins for warming foods up. There are several good restaurants close by. Copies of recommended restaurants will be available at a later date and at the site.

The Civic Center site is wheel chair accessible, and has several changing rooms, with showers. Merchants and entertainers are welcome!

Tickets will be available starting in September and can be purchased at various Kingdom/Princi- palities events, or by mail. Ticket prices will be $7 from late in August until October Crown. After October Crown, tickets will be $8 until Dee. 15. Tickets will be $10 from Dee. 16 until Jan. 9, and will also be available at the door. When requesting tickets through the mail, please send the form appearing in the (page 15) along with check or money order (no cash, please) made out to: SCA Inc.-Kingdom ofthe West/Twelfth Night. When mailing in requests/checks, please let us know how many tickets, SCA/mundane names), and a SASE to Tashi of Falcons Claw (name/address)

Raffle: The Barony of Fettburg will be raffling off one of the rooms at the Red Lion. Tickets may be purchased at the mere cost of one dollar each and will be available at various upcoming events. The winning ticket will be drawn at either October Crown or at Cynagua Coronet in November.

Twelfth Night will be in the Barony of Fett Burg in the town of Modesto. The site is the Modesto Civic Center, which is connected to the Red Lion Inn. The main entrance to the festivities and additional ticket sales will be at the front of the Convention Center.

Due to site restrictions, there won't be an organized feast. Neither will alcohol be allowed to be brought on site. There are no kitchen facilities available for our use, but there are ample plugs along the walls for warming food. Ice chests and baskets will be subject to inspection for alcohol products. There will be an unloading area on the eastern side of the convention center. After unloading, vehicles must be parked in the designated parking areas.

We will have a wet-bar set-up in the dining halls for beer/wine purchases and consumption. To purchase either beer or wine, tokens will be available for pur- chase, and current identification or a Driver's license with a photo ID and birth date will be required (and checked) at both the time of token purchase and at the alcohol purchase area. No fighter cards will be accepted. Prices for (light and dark) beer is $1.50 per 12 oz. serving and (red or white) wine will be $3 per 8 oz. serving.

There are several good restaurants close by. A list of recommended restaurants will be available at the door. The Civic Center site is wheel chair accessible. Banners are needed to decorate the hall. Anyone wishing to display group, guild, war unit, or personal banners are welcome. There is ample space for banners. Anyone who wishes to send their banners ahead, please contact Cubi de Elmhurst (phone) or Tashi of Falcons Claw (phone). Please have banners to Cubi by December 28. Also, donations of banners to the permanent Twelfth Night regalia are encouraged; contact the people listed above.

Tickets can be purchased at various kingdom and principality events or by mail through January 3, 1993. Ticket prices are $10 from December 16 to January 9, and at the door. When requesting tickets through the mail, please send an S.A.S.E. and the form appearing on page 15 along with a check or money order (no cash, please) made out to: S.C.A. Inc. -- Kingdom of the West/Twelfth Night. Mail requests and checks, with number of tickets and S.C.A./ mundane names to Tashi of Falcons Claw (name/address).

People are needed to help with Twelfth Night preparation. If you want to help, call the autocrat.

The Land Fund will have a display table with pictures of the Del Puerto Property and an important handout.

Competitions: Arts, heraldic garb (pre 15th century); Wooden Spoon, "Fire in Ice" (period spicy dishes).

Herbalist Guild will be having a display. The display will cover various types of herbalism, including: herbal gardening, cooking with herbs, herbal vinegar, herbal paper, wild crafting, herbal medicine for farm/stable/pets, herbal soaps, household stuff, herbal teas, herbal history and lore, potpourri and candles.

The Order of Arachne's Web (lacemakers) will be displaying their lace in the arts display room. All lacemakers are encouraged to bring samples of their work. Many of the pieces of lace will be auctioned off at March Crown.

Queen's Champion: The sign ups for the Queen's Champion List will be closing at 10 a.m. All participating fighters should use the eastern entrance fo the convention center. Fighting will be on the asphalt parking area. Unloading and loading of armor and fighting gear is permitted, but vehicles must be parked in designated parking areas after the unloading/loading and signing up for the lists. Fighters should bring their own towels and any other accessories they need for cleaning up.
