The Twenty-seventh Year

Anniversary Revel -- Mountain's Gate

March 27, 1993 (AS XXVII)

Site: Shingle Springs Community Center, Shingle Springs, CA

From The Page (February, 1993):

Wilkomen, mein Dammen und Herren; all are welcome to come and celebrate Mountain's Gate's fourth anniversary with some German traditions for the beginning of spring.

We'll start with a mini-tourney to determine who will win the title of Frost Slayer. Then the champion and his (or her) consort will lead the parade that ends with the burning of the snowman. Bring your banners to carry in the parade. Children of all ages are encouraged to bring or build steeds to ride in the parade - no actual hay burners, please.

Arts competitions begin after the parade and the potluck begins at 6 p.m. Letter designations are for mundane last name: A-H side dish or salad; I-P main dish; Q-Z bread or dessert. Alcohol is allowed (for those old enough to drink it) at this site. The site fee is $4.

We will have dancing, a play by the inimitable House Darkclaw, and bards galore.

Contests: needlework - fabulous beasts; performing arts - rock filk (period themes and style encouraged) and men's belly dancing; food - period German dessert. There will also be some impromptu contests, so come prepared for anything.

Autocrat: Maura von Lippa (name/contact info).

Directions: (omitted)
