Remember that Vikings have to eat too. Iron Spoon Competition is for sea rations - all entries must be at least two weeks old. Extra points for period packaging and anything that tastes good. Please do not poison our judges. The Iron Stomach Competition is for the period recipe you would Least like to eat. Please submit only the recipe and documentation. Or we'll make you eat it!

Sunday will be the Border War. Silver Desert, Grimsgard, Amaan Al Samira, and Mountain's Gate all have claims on Lake Tahoe, so we decided the only civilized thing to do is fight about it. Numerous scenarios are planned. Unless you are already allied with one of the groups, contact one of them now to sign up as a mercenary. Non-combatants are welcome too. You can always bake cookies to pay mercenaries with (They also serve who stand and bake). Site is Granite Bay at Folsom Lake.

From The Page (October, 1991):

Norway has declared this year the thousandth anniversary of Lief Ericson's discovery of Vinland. In order to celebrate, Norway is sending longboats across the Atlantic to visit our shores. While they will probably not make it to the west coast, we local Vikings must do our part to help in the celebration! Come to the Shire of Mountains' Gate Leif Ericson Tourney, October 12 & 13.

Saturday we will have a round shield prize tourney (center grip rounds only). Loaner shields will be available. Unfortunately, while a tourney can only have one winner, the losers may find that Valhalla will reward them. Rumor has it that Valkyries will be in attendance to carry the fallen from the field. Armor inspection 9:30, tourney begins at 10:30.

In the afternoon we will divide into teams and play Steal the Sheep. We have a fine specimen just waiting to be carried off.

Remember, Vikings have to eat too. Viking Iron Spoon Competition is for Sea-Rations. All entries must be at least two weeks old. Extra points for period packaging and anything that tastes good. Please do not poison our judges!

The Iron Stomach Competition is for period recipe you would least like to eat. Please submit the recipe and documentation only! If you submit the actual dish, we'll make you eat it!

For the children there will be a special pig hunt.

Saturday at 5:30 Coastal Raid & Weenie Roast with marshmallows afterwards. Hot dogs will be available for $1 each. At 6 the Viking Pavilion Drawing. Tickets will be on sale until shortly before the drawing, $1 each or 6 for $5. You can move in Saturday night!

Sunday will be the Border War. Silver Desert. Darlind Woods, Grimsgard, Jabal Al' Samira, and Mountains' Gate all have claims on Lake Tahoe, therefore we have decided the only civilized thing to do is fight about it. Numerous scenarios are planned. Remember, if you do not fight you can still participate. Mercenaries cost and you can help purchase them! They also serve who stand and bake.

Site Change!!! The final site is Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth. The site fee is $5 per person and the site "officially" opens Saturday morning at 8 a.m., however, those who wish to camp over on Friday night may pay an additional fee of $5 per car (not per person) any time after 5 p.m on Friday.
