From The Page (February, 1992):
Well, it's late winter. The larder is empty, and the "Gambeson" soup is a bit thin now. So get on your horse and ride-it's feast and tourney time in scenic Al-Samira. As always, there will be much carrying-on, court dancing, contests, on-site Arts and Science competitions and the now infamous great hall brawl (Fighters- Bring your Armour!). And did we mention feasting-lots of it.
The theme this year is Romano-British (6-10th century) with prizes for all who show up in proper garb for the period. This is a superb event to bring newcomers to, as there will be a bit of everything including an A&S exhibit and demo. Bring banners, tapestries and of course table fixtures. The hall will close at 11 P.M.
The fee for the feast includes the site fee and is $8 in advance and $10 at the door. There will be a reduced fee for newcomers-please call the autocrat. In all cases we are requesting 1 or 2 canned food items per ticket for donation to the local area food closet. For advance tickets make checks payable to "SCA-Shire of Jabal Al-Samira".
Sunday morning will bring a small prize tourney with some very innovative rules. There sill be plenty of crash space for those who stay, and breakfast at Wylly's ($2 fee).
Autocrat: Rhieinwylydd Delwyddellyn (name/contact info).
