The Page School will be making a presentation to the incoming Royalty at 12th Night this year. We will be displaying items and projects that we have worked on or learned about this year. Some ideas that have come up already are: Bookmarks, Jewelry, Scrolls, and Flowers. If you have any ideas or would like any, please contact the Chancellor of the Page School, Cillene MacRorie, at the number and address in the back of this "PAGE" issue.

With 12th Night coming up I knew my lord and I would not want to drive to Sacramento, have a fine time at 12th Night, and then drive back to the Bay Area. I contacted our favorite hotel in Sacramento, The Residence Inn, to make reservations and inquire whether we could get a group rate from them. They are amenable to a group rate regardless of how many or how few rooms we take. This is not the cheapest place in town, but it is worth it if you want to "spoil" yourself overnight.

One Bedroom = $69 per night     Two Bedroom = $89 per night

(ENTERTAINMENT 91 -If you have an Entertainment 91 book it would be $45 for a one bedroom and $55 for a two bedroom.)

* In all rooms the couch also turns into a bed which means that three couples could ConceiVably share a two bedroom if necessary, but there might be a small extra charge.

Residence Inn is designed to give business people a homey place to stay. Each room has its own fireplace in the living room, separate bedroom, and kitchen. Each kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, pots, pans, dishes, etc. Each room also has an air popper and a supply of popcorn. There is a complimentary breakfast with juice, coffee, tea, and a variety of pastries. On our previous visits, there have been complimentary wine and cheese at around 5PM. For no extra service charge they will do any grocery shopping you need done. There is also a heated pool and three or four jacuzzis for guests to use.

When you call to make reservations say that you belong to the SCA to getthe group rate.

THE RESIDENCE INN-(address) (near Cal Expo-about a 15 minute drive to the site) SACRAMENTO, CA 95825, (phone).

I know I sound like some kind of cheerleader for this place but, honestly, it's a neat place to go if you are planning on staying in Sacramento overnight. We always try to stay overnight Friday and Saturday of 12th Night so we can "extend" 12th Night a bit. - Aurelia d'Aquitaine

Reminisces:

"... King Eric had declared that on this day, he was going to be "the one and only Eric" and called all those who were named Eric to come into court. Eric (and permutations thereof) being one of the more popular names in the West, there assembled quite a crowd. Each Eric was handed a card which had a new name on it; he was to be addressed by that name for the remainder of the day. Eric Holdstar was assigned the name of "Ham of Hocking" quite deliberately -- Eric is a butcher in mundane life. When the time came for his Knighting, there followed a great discussion in which King Eric, Earl Geoffrey, and Viscount Garth debated whether Eric Holdstar should be knighted as "Sir Eric" or as "Sir Ham." The King decided that a dispensation should be made, and so Sir Eric Holdstar he is to this day. Too bad -- I kinda liked "Sir Ham."" -- Tatiana Nikolaevna Tumanova
