From The Page (August, 1990):
Once again, the Shire of Mountain's Gate will be hosting a 2-day demo at the El Dorado County Fair, Placerville. We invite all of our friends to come up & enjoy to hospitality of our Shire, while entertaining & introducing the fairgoers to the SCA.
MUCH NEEDED: Arts & Sciences "hands-on" & static displays, fighters, dancers, music, gentles who wish to demonstrate their favorite period skill, gentles who wish to wander around in garb, etc. We will have space to set up 4 or 5 period pavillions & will be able to stay overnight on Saturday. The fair grounds open at 7:30 AM for set up & we will have use of "on-site" car passes until 9 AM.
Admittance to the fair is FREE if YOU ARE IN GARB & tell the ticket trolls "I'm with the SCA" (gee, what was their first clue?) Mountains' Gate will be providing refreshments both days, so please contact the autocrat to let her know how many will be attending, & whether it is for Saturday or Sunday or both days, no later than August 1.
The AUTOCRAT is Gilliane Atherley, (phone), no calls after 10:30 pm.
Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
