First Sword Tourney -- Esfenn

Need a new sunshade, or how about a piece of armor? Well it's time for the 8th Annual Esfenn First Sword & Prize Tourney which will be held on August 11th at Weekes Park in Haward (SITE FEE $3). If you are a fighter with a strong sword arm, come on down & try to become the First Sword of Esfenn. The First Sword contest is open to all fighters of the West, & the winner will become the military representative/spokesman & field commander for the Shire. Some of the typical prizes to be awarded in the Prize Tourney Melees are a Bailey's Cheese Cake, a Sunshade, a shield blank, Henry's Ale. More prizes will be announced later. If you are not a fighter, we will be holding other activities & contests. Some of these will be dancing practice, gaming, treasure hunt/quest & other contests. After the afternoon's activities a potluck revel will be held in the adjacent hall. More information will follow in the next Page. Contact Balin the Hunter (phone) or Robert Ringweaver (phone).

Need a new sunshade, or how about new shield? Ever wanted to lead your own army into battle? Then come to the 8th Annual Esfenn 1st Sword & Prize TOurney. The Tourney will be held at Weekes Park in Hayward on Augsut 11th. The SITE FEE is $3.

If you are a fighter with a strong sword arm, come join us & try to become the 1st Sword of Esfenn. The 1st Sword contest is open to all fighters of the West, & the winner will become the military representative/spokesman & field commander for the Shire.

After the 1st Sword Competition the Shire will hold a Prize Tourney that is open to all fighters. Some of the typical prizes are:

     Sunshade
     Shield Blank
     Case of Henry's Ale
     Bailey's Cheese Cake
     2 hours of Private Practice with various members of the Chivalry.

More prizes will be announced at the event.

If you are not a fighter, we will be holding some special activities just for you. There will be Dancing PRactice, Gaming, Treasure Hunt/Quest & Mistress Hilary will be giving a talk on the history of the SCA (this talk is back by popular demand).

The site will open at 9 am for set-up and the Lists will be open for sign-ups from 10-11:30 am. The 1st Sword Competition will start at noon. The Prize Tourney will start after the 1st Sword is chosen. The hall will open up for the evening revel at 3 pm. The potluck dinner will start at 5 pm and afterward there will be dancing, gaming, and revelry. There will also be competitions for Best Potluck Dish, Best Table Decoration (in the Shire Colors: Or and Gules) and Best Dancers. The Potluck Feast categories are as follows (by legal last name):

     A - F Side Dishes
     G - M Main Dishes
     N - Z Desserts
