Greetings unto the Artisans & Craftsmen of the Known World. The Barony of Darkwood is planning its Annual Arts & Sciences Competition to determine this year's Arts & Sciences Champion. This event will be held on Sep 22-23, AS XXV at the Ft. Ord Army Travel Camp at Ford. Ord, CA. Detailed directions will be published at a later date.
This will be a 2 day event with judging of the Arts & Sciences Competition, Bardic Circle & Pot Luck Feast on 1 day. Archery & general socializing the other day. Genera SITE FEE is $3 per individual & an additional $.50 per hour or $2 per day for the archery field.
The Arts & Sciences Competition will be on the following categories:
Period Scroll Border
Dramatical Reading/Oratory
Decorative Beadwork
Period Toy Making
Period Camouflage of a Mundane Object
Complete Breakfast for a Fighter
The Game Hunker-Hauser
Dancing: Maltese Bransle, Hole in the Wall, & "Toss the Lady/Lord"
This is a "DAMP SITE", (NO HARD LIQUOR) with limited runnign water & porta-potties. There is lots of shade & some grassy areas. There are firepits available, but you will need to bring your own wood. Child care is currently not available, but a LARGE playground is located near the campgrounds. In order to get on Ft. Ord drivers will need: Current Driver's License, Current Registration for Vehicle, & a Valid Insurance Policy with experiation date on it.
