Purgatorio Coronation

August 26-27, 1989 (AS XXIV)

Purgatorio will be held at Graybrook Ranch in Humboldt County. The site opens at 12 Noon on Thursday, August 23 and will remain open until Tuesday, August 29. Site fee is $4.00. There is no additional charge for merchants, however, each merchant must prepare a card giving their name and a description of their wares. There are not a lot of restrictions to this site, but parents and guardians of children should be aware of the areas of barbed-wire fence and briar patches. Also, the site is a hay field, so expect dry grass and the possibility of allergic reactions. NO GROUND FIRES, except bardic circle and tavern. There is a general mercantile store which sells among other things, fruits, lunchmeats, snacks, sodas and alcohol. The Crippled Gryphon Tavern shall again be offering fine libations at a moderate price. The tavern shall also sponsor the Bardic Circle providing varieties of diversions and entertainment to please the eye, the palate, and the senses. House Har Lauf will be offering sage 'n sausage gravy with biscuits coffee and bran muffins with or without berries and cream, Sunday morning only. The autocrat is Senkyu (name/contact info). Deputy autocrats are Frodi and Hafn (names/contact info).

Please be certain to include your name on your written recipe, which is part of your entry, and is not returnable. For those who are not aware, the judging critera are 1) authenticity of ingredients, 2) appearance, presentation, 3) taste, and 4) written recipe with naem. Pandy Bat competition will be held Saturday following Coronation Court. After the Pandy Bat competition, there will be a Grande Melee with a drinkable prize for the victor. Sunday afternoon there will be an unbelted prize list with a pair of drinking horns as first prize. Chivalry meeting will be held Saturday afternoon after the Melees. A Middle Eastern Bazaar will be hosted by members of House Al Qasar. Dancers, musicians, and entertainees are invited to bring items for sale or swap at House Al Qasar's Middle Eastern Bazaar which will be held in the afternoon hours on Saturday. Look for the large Bedouin tent (maroon and dusty pink) and ask for Sadika or Sunara. You may contact Sunara at (phone) for more information.


The West Kingdom Page School will hold an informative session on names and chooslnq a name to go with a persona. This talk is geared toward the young ones, but anyone who is interested is welcome to come and listen. Following the session, there will be a "proqress" around the eric. This wil be a chance for the populace to meet the Page School, as well as a chance for the children to practice courtesy and manners.
