Beltane Coronation

April 28-29, 1990 (AS XXIV)

Beltane will be held on April 28-9 at Rollins Lake Park between Grass Valley & Colfax (off 80 East of Sacramento). The ARTS COMPETITION will be: Open Performance. This includes all performing arts not covered in Instrumental or Vocal Performance (March Crown). The performance must not exceed 5 minutes & must be documented. The SCIENCES COMPETITION will be: Domestic Sciences (Costume Accessory -- Footgear ... must be sturdy enough to wear & may be from any period.) & Technical Sciences (Metalworking -- Ornamented Armor ... a single piece ornamented embellished with a different metal ... should be functional, not show armor.). The WOODEN SPOON COMPETITION will be Quick Breads.

The AUTOCRATS are Lord Thure Bittenheart (name/contact info) & Lord Regulus (name/contact info).

From The Page (April, 1990):

Mont D'Or will host Beltane in one of our most lovely wooded glens by the Lake of Rollins, Greenhorn Campgrounds (off 80 East of Sacramento), which has all amenities desired for an outing. This year besides fishing, swimming the boat ramp, the site will have hot showers & modern facilities at the (new) little general store. Restaurants & large shopping centers are nearby in Grass Valley. There will be a merchants grove & an area for archery. The SITE FEES are $5 per adult, $2 per child (12 & under), & $10 for merchants.

NOTE: If you were not at Beltane last time, camping around the Eric means access to most sites will be driving through the Eric. So, having your camp set before First Court & not removed before Closing Court. Fires are restricted to fire rings or contained apparatus. Pets must be leashed & kept in order. Horses are allowed, please call the AUTOCRAT. It is an extensive site, extra duty Heralds are needed. Those interested in assisting, meet at Heralds Point, 9 am, Saturday.

PARENTS NOTE: There are irrigation ditches, a lake, a trout pond, & Poison Oak in the surrounding bushes.
