From The Page (May, 1988):
Warriors and citizens, harken to the commands of His Majesty, King Jade and give
the armies of An Tir a warm welcome as we return to An Tir's southern borders for the
third West-An Tir War! Join King Steingrim as he loses his shirt to the grand Western
army in open field, castle, forest and bridge battles!!!
For those of gentler nature (camp followers), there will be on-site contests including
a bardic contest, (songs of the historical Middle Ages or of the current Middle Ages
done in a period flavor), the perennial Siege Cooking contest, and a "What My
Master/Mistress is Teaching Me" -- this is a contest for apprentices to show off a project
that epitomizes what they are learning in the areas of Arts & Sciences, Service or
Armor. Please write to Companion Hlutwige Wolfkiller (contact info omitted) by May 22
to register and include: Your name, your
Mistress/Master/Knight's name and the category chosen. The project will be judged at
the war.
Volunteer constables and marshals will be welcome with open arms! Minors must
have a signed MINORS waiver.
Site will be Zumwalt Park (popular An Tir site), along the Fern Ridge Reservoir,
which borders the site. There are 30 acres of meadow and forest. All privies and water
will be trucked in. Pets must be on a leash AT ALL TIMES! There is a boat ramp and
swimming permitted; however, you are responsible for your own safety and that of your
children near and in the water. There are no lifeguards. There are many shade trees
and moist spots (a swamp), so mosquitos and yellow jackets are to be expected. All
amenities (gas, groceries, fast food, hardware stores) are available within five miles of
the site. MERCHANTS: Call ahead for reservations along Merchant's Row. Site will
open at 2 pm Friday (Please NO early arrivals), June 10. Site fee: $4.00 US for adults,
$2.00 US for children 6-12, under 6 free. For further information, contact the autocrat,
Graf Berek von Langental (contact info omitted).
