From The Page (June, 1988):
Once again, the Barony of Vinhold will be holding its All Hallows Eve Banquet. The theme this year is Danish. All who have been to one of our banquets know that it is not something to miss. This year the Barony has spared no expense and hopes that you will come to enjoy the fruits of our efforts. The menu will include, but is not limited to, roast suckling pig, lamb and mushroom pie, fruit, cheese and smoked fish. Entertainment shall be as diverse and plentiful as the food. Also, for the sixth year now, part of the evening's entertainment shall be the competition for Bard of Vinhold. Any and all are encouraged to enter. The three phases of the competition are: 1) a song, poem, story or verse about wine and/or Vinhold; 2) a song, poem, story or verse, made up on the spot from three words drawn earlier; 3) a song, poem, story or verse of your choosing. The Bard of Vinhold enjoys the privileges of sitting at the right hand of the Baron at Baronial events, to drink from the Baron's cup, and to bear the title of Bard of Vinhold for one year. The requirements to enter are willingness to attend baronial events (as much as is reasonably possible), and to have a song, poem, story or verse ready if the Baron should call for one. The feast shall be held October 22 at Vintage Hall in st. Helena. The price of the tickets are $9.00. Tickets sales begin now and end October 10. Tickets will NOT be available at the door. There will be a need for servers during the evening. If you would be willing to serve for one course of the meal you will be given a discount on your ticket. This shall be on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will be available at some Kingdom and Principality events, or contact the autocrat, Torvald Torgarsson (contact info omitted). You can also contact Baron Anthony the Sinister at (phone).
From The Page (October, 1988):
On October 22, the Barony of Vinhold will be holding its Seventh Annual All Hallows Eve Banquet at Vintage Hall in St. Helena. The feast and entertainment theme is Norse and the feast features five removes for a mere pittance of $9.00. The hall opens at 2 pm and the first remove will be served at 3 pm. As is custom and tradition, a portion of the evening entertainment will consist of the Bard of Vinhold competition. However, all bardic competitors must preregister. Audience participation is also requested as there will be contests for the best Nordic toasts, brags, etc. Yet further excitement will be provided by the auction of fine wares captured on our various "peaceful trading missions." If you haven't bought your tickets yet (for shame!), there are still some available. The deadline for ticket sales is October 15 and no tickets will be sold at the door. To buy tickets and to pre-register for the bardic competition, please contact the autocrats, Megan of Tara Hill and Kiera Terracoeur at (phone). Please leave a message. Vintage Hall can be reached from the Bay Area by taking (directions omitted ...).
