From The Page (August, 1988):
On August 13, Sunset Shire will have its annual tourney, on the usual hilltop (see map below). This year we are going to have a games tourney and pot-luck picnic. We will have archery, heavy line pulls, (tug-of-war if you wish), stone put or toss, and any other field games that are brought in by attendees. Last year we had a well-received metal disc toss for accuracy. There will be a prize for best game if there are three or more games entered that have been developed by the entrant. If we have enough fighters, we will have our eric set up. The type of fighting competitions will depend on the number of fighters. A potluck picnic is also part of our plans, with a competition for the best entry, if there are three or more entries, with judging to be done by the entrants. For those who would like to cook, there is a good charcoal cooking pit that will have a fire ready to be set if desired. The site will open at 9 am, with competitions starting at noon. There will be an interesting selection of prizes to be won, so please come and have fun! There will be no required site fee, but donations will be cheerfully accepted. For further information, call Mairi nicColin or James the Fisher at (phone).
