The Twenty-third Year

Newcomers Tourney -- Southern Shores

April 15, 1989 (AS XXIII)

From The Page (March, 1989):

On Saturday, April 15, the Province of Southern Shores will hold its annual Newcomers Tourney and Revel. The tourney will be held at John D. Morgan Park in Campbell; the revel will follow at the Saratoga Fire Hall in downtown Saratoga. Directions and a map will appear in next month's Page.

There will be various events and contests throughout the day, with lists for fighters who have been qualified for two years or less and who have never won a tourney. Prizes will be offered for both fighting and nonfighting contests. A boffer prize list will be held for children (please bring any foam boffers you have). A raffle will be held at the revel; we have been promised various items and will list them next month. An "Anything with Flowers or Herbs" contest will be run for people who have not entered an Arts or Sciences competition before. Some documentation is necessary, and there will be a prize offered. If you would like to sponsor a contest (particularly one that encourages newcomers or old timers to learn new skills), please contact to autocrats, Michael of Worcester (phone) or Jarad of Castiewood (phone) or the Seneschal of Southern Shores, Catherine Kenda of Stillwater (phone), before 8:30 only.

The Shire of Esfenn will be holding its TGIF Revel the night before, on Friday, April 14. For those who wish to come to both events, possible sleeping space will be available. Contact the autocrats of either event about arrangements.

Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
