The Twenty-third Year

Mists Games -- Principality of the Mists

August 6, 1988 (AS XXIII)

From The Page (June, 1988):

On August 6, the Principality of the Mists Games will be held in the Shire of Esfenn, at Weekes Park In Hayward. It's time to start thinking about teams, perhaps one from each group (or several smaller groups) in the Mists. There are going to be many games and contests for fighters, nonfighters and children alike, including Joue de Ball, Name that Ceremony, Charlot Races and Random Injury Combat, to name but a few. I am looking for sponsors for some of the contests and games. This year, there will be a potluck revel afterward in a hall located on the park grounds, where the bardic contest will be conducted and the winners will be announced. If you would like more information and/or to sponsor a game or contest, contact me, Iomhar MacThaimhis (contact info omitted). Both numbers have an answering machine, so please leave a message.

From The Page (July, 1988):

On August 6, the Principality of the Mists Games will be held In the Shire of Esfenn, at Weekes Park in Hayward. There are going to be plenty of games and contests for fighters, nonfighters, heralds and bards, young and not-so-young alike. This year let's try to have teams from each group within the Mists, or if the groups are small, they can band together to form a team. The site will open at 10 am, but it is first come, first served. There is a hall on the park grounds where a potluck-in-the-round revel will be held after the outdoor games and contest have finished and where the bardic contests will be held. Site fee will be $3. Contests for fighters: random injury combat, polearm and sword and shield teams, blind fighter, two fighter--one weapon and shield, agincourt run, stickball (polearms needed). For non-fighters: message relay, water carrying relay, chariot race, pig-bladder toss relay, egg in spoon obstacle course, peer race (peers don't run). For heralds: heraldic flash cards and name that ceremony. For bards: new nonmartial poem, song, story in praise of your team or group, and new non martial poem, song, story in praise of the Mists.
