Coronet Tournament -- Principality of the Mists

September 17, 1988 (AS XXIII)

From The Page (August, 1988):

Mists Fall Coronet Tournament will be held September 17 at Santa Teresa Park in South San Jose. The site will open at 9 am. There will be a revel held at a yet to be determined site, beginning about 6 or 7 pm. For more Information about the event, call the autocrat, Harold von dem Schwarzwald, (phone). If you get the answering machine please leave a message.

DIRECTIONS: (omitted)

The Principality of the Mists Arts Office will be sponsoring a favor competition at Fall Coronet. Favors in period were made of many things, and by no means limited to embroidered cloth. Entries may be made of any material that is suitable (I've seen excellent, sturdy ones made of leather or chainmail). Brief (no more than one page) documentation is requested, but certainly not required. Don't be afraid to enter on the spur of the moment! For more Information, call Eveline of Shoreham at (phone), before 10 pm, please.

The Silver Spoon Competition at Mists Coronet will be "Corn" to celebrate the harvest season. Not "Indian Corn" or maize, but Old World Corn. The grain should be 1/2 or more of the recipe by weight and please don't just make bread. Along with your recipe, be sure to include some documentation on the historical sources of the recipe. As well as the traditional Silver Spoon token, the winner will receive a copy of a historical cookbook, such as Pleyn Delite.
