From The Page (May, 1988):
All are most welcome to Cloondara's 5th Annual Archery Competition,
starting at 11 am on Sunday, June 5, at the archery field in Golden Gate Park. This
event traditionally draws archers from all over the Kingdom and will include both
combat-style and standard target competition. Although there will be no actual combat
archery, war archers are encouraged to wear their armor during contests using
combat-legal arrows and bows. The IKCAC and IKAC will be shot as well as the
fantasy target games using last year's wonderful "monster" targets made by Robert of
Coldcastle.
Non-archers are of course, welcome to join us, as many other activities are planned,
including a contest for garb under $15 (bring receipts), and medieval dancing to
(possibly live) period music. Children are encouraged to come and compete with their
own bows.
The field banquet will begin around 3 pm, with your choice of either bringing your
own food, or buying a period style cold picnic from our "foodcrar" Maudeline. The
picnic is sold by advance reservation ONLY, which closes on May 28. Enclose a SASE
for tickets to be returned to you, and any reservations received after May 21 will be
held for you at the event. Mail checks to (contact info omitted). Checks should be payable to "SCA, Cloondara." Everyone
is encouraged to bring period field furniture as well as feast gear, as there are no
tables at the archery field. No fires are allowed, and pets and smalls must be
restrained. Competition will end at around 6 pm, with prizes awarded to winners based
on overall points. Please bring extra food, drink and musical instruments for the usual
wild revel at Elayna's afterward. Autocrat: Asclin Thorne, (contact info omitted).
