Twenty-second Year

Valentine's Revel -- Golden Rivers

FRIDAY, February 12, 1988 (AS XXII)

From The Page (January, 1988):

Barbarians are questioning who this guy is they call St. Valentine. (What he kill?) Some say he has something to do with love ... (What? Rape, and no pillage?) So here is your chance to "enlighten" the barbarians. Since they don't write or speak so good, paper and styles will be available for you to draw your sayings and ideas, and the barbarians will try to understand. It is understood that a true barbarian loves to kill, so there will be a Kill your Enemy with Love contest. Little heart stickers will be available to stick your enemy with; special points for special places. It's also been heard that gentle folk have standards they uphold. Well, we will see, because there will be a scruples game for those brave enough to play (period questions). Come and see who is picked to reign as King and Queen of Hearts.

A dessert revel will keep stomachs from growling. Bards bring your songbooks (the Freehold songbook will be there), musicians play, dancers dance. Anyone wanting to sponsor a contest please do. This is a dry site, with a no-host bar available. For crash space, call Astrid.

The site fee is $2; site opens at 7pm and closes at 11pm. The site is the Elks Lodge on (street omitted) in West Sacramento.

Directions: (omitted)

The autocrats are Lady Ann Marie and Lady Astrid of Elvstadt Freehold. Phone numbers are (omitted).

Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
