From The Page (November, 1987):
Come join the Barony of Fett burg for our Christmas Revel on Saturday December 12 from noon to 11pm. We will have a pinata for the kids, a play by the shire of Canale, a Christmas tree, and several competitions. There will be contests for the most festive costume, most festive table setting, our third annual Jamaican Banana Potluck contest, and the Baronial Blue Bowl award for period deserts. For the Blue Bowl contest you must submit your recipe and the historical documentation for the dish. Contrary to its name, the Jamaican Banana contest is for any potluck dish. The populace votes for what they liked best.
There is a $2 site fee. Anyone wishing to participate in the potluck should bring a dish that will serve 8-10 people. The potluck dish can be a contest entry. Please let one of the Autocrats know whether you'll be bringing a main dish, dessert or other.
There is also a voluntary present exchange (a shortened Pirate game) with a prize for most creatively wrapped. Gifts (bought or made) should be under $5 and a separate exchange is planned for smalls under 10 years of age.
The site is the Burbank-Paradise Club house on (address omitted), in Modesto. Autocrats are Mistress K'alan Taurewen (phone) and Lady Victoria of Elmhurst Hollow (phone). Call before 10pm.
