Twenty-second Year

Coronet Tournament -- Principality of Cynagua

October 31-November 1, 1987 (AS XXII)

From The Page (September, 1987):

Cynaguans, come play on All Hallows eve in southern Cynagua's Canale for Autumn Coronet on October 31 and November 1. Once again, the site is in lovely Turlock Lake Recreational Area, approximately 30 miles east of Modesto, with lush greenery, cooling shade, lots of flush toilets, and HOT showers. Parents should be aware that the site is adjacent to a rapid river.

Arts competitions planned are Needlework - pavilion/site decoration, Skaldic (Viking) Poetry, Gloves - any period, style, or material, Musical Performance - music does not have to be original, however, higher points given if it is. Music is being judged, now how well you sing. If this is the instrument you made for sciences contest, please let us know, Kinetic Sciences - Open, in conjunction with Science Contest. If you are entering the science contest and do not wish to enter in arts, that's perfectly all right. This contest is on performing your craft, not on how well the final product turns out (This contest is being held after being postponed from July Investiture).

The Cygnet is planning to have trick-or-treat session with the smalls in attendance, and has asked that the adults come prepared with some small treats for them. She thanks you in advance. The autocrats tell us that games and sundry other diversions will be enjoyed, in addition to the fierce competition for the Coronet.

Any merchants, performers or competition creators are urged to contact the autocrats, Lorenzo de Nebbia Argentia (mundane name, phone, omitted), or Filitia Serena (mundane name, phone, omitted).

Watch the next issue for map and any new developments.

From The Page (October, 1987):

Once more the Shire of Canale will be host to Autumn Coronet at beautiful Turlock State Park in southern Cynagua. If you attended the last two years you'll surely remember teh tree-shaded eric and the delightful feeling of seclusion. Don't forget flush privies and HOT showers, too! Those with smalls please be aware that the site is adjacent to a swift river and be forewarned.

Coronet will be October 31 and November 1 with the site opening at noon of Friday October 30. Space on the eric will be limited but the adjacent areas are excellent. (No ground fires or wood gathering is permitted, but wood is available for sale from the Rangers.) Many stone barbeque pits are available as well as wooden tables.

(Arts contest information repeats from September's issue ...)

Sciences Competitions for Coronet Tourney shall be Period Use of Wax (any item using wax as a part of the process), Period Game or Sports Equipment (any medium) and Medieval Musical Instruments. For details contact Carl of Sutherland (name/contact info omitted).
