From The Page (February, 1987):
On March 7 and 8, the new Barony of Colle-Dubh will hold it's first baronial event. There will be a short single elimination list, with a special honor for the victor. There will be lots of melees with prizes for each winner. Unbelted melee, two handed melee, and a grand melee. This last one will be a team resurrection melee. The tournament champion will be chosen from those who distinguished themselves over the previous two days, and will be awarded with a suitable prize.
There will be dancing, singing, and all manner of frolicking. Through out the event, there will be a best entertainer contest, in which contestants will try to coax tangible appreciation from the populace. Saturday evening will be a served feast. At the feast will be a competition for best verse based on the days activities, and one for best couplet honoring a lady. Both of these will help toward the best entertainer contest.
This is by no means a complete list of the days activities. For more information and directions, contact Sebastian von Baden at (phone).
From The Page (March, 1987):
The Barony of Tarnmist will sponsor the opposing team at the Darkwood White Shield Tournament on March 7. Come and sign onto one of the teams for the Grand Resurrection Melee.
Take one look at the schedule and you will see the many sword swinging, prize winning opportunities available. Add to that, hunker-hauser, chain mail toss, javelin toss, and other activities as well as a contest for entertainers. The entertainers will try to persuade the populace to give them tokens for good performances.
The event will be followed by a feast cooked by Singiefu Waerfaest. There will be two poetry contests during the feast. One will be for a verse about the day's events and the other will be for a couplet honoring a lady. Tickets for the feast are $5 in advance or $7 at the door.
