From The Page (October, 1986):
On October 25 Sunset Shire will hold a "Surprise Revel" in combination with a Dessert Potluck, at the home of Richard of Willowood, (address omitted). The Revel site will be open at 5 p.m. with reveling commencing spontaneously. There will be no site fee, but the hat will be passed to help defray expenses.
Each party is requested to bring an interesting dessert dish for potluck in the round. If they are interesting enough there may be a contest.
The "surprise" section of the revel is something different the shire feels like trying. Here's the idea: each individual shall prepare a surprise, and present it at a time to be determined at the revel, but unknown to the other revelers. A surprise need only be limited by the imagination of the presenter. This is an idea we have not seen used before and feel it opens a new field in which to play.
The revel will be held at a private residence, and there is adequate street parking available, but a word to the wise -- don't block driveways.
