Principality Games -- Principality of the Mists

August 2, 1986 (AS XXI)

From The Page (July, 1986):

The Mists Principality Games will be held Saturday, August 2, at the Tilden Park Airplane Field. There will be a revel afterward, tentatively planned for St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley.

There will be a message relay, for an unarmored messenger with an armored escort; a treasure box melee; a water carrier relay; an unarmed message relay with a difference; javelin toss, for distance and accuracy (anybody have a hula-hoop we can use?); a 3 fighter 9 foot pike melee; an up to 5 fighter team melee; shield wall drill team (drums, bagpipes, etc., allowed); body looting; wooden keg competition (best thirst quenching fighter drink); name that ceremony; ID the fighter; match the royalty; two man team hunker-hawser; tug of war (no fighters); piggy back ring-tilting (unarmored); lots of children's competitions (points do count for team; kids are people too); and finally a two person human wheel barrow race called "deliver the Scotch to the Prince".

Here is your chance at a day of silliness, not to mention some serious war practice, and a chance to win battle ribbons, honor, recognition, and goodies for your shire, province, barony, household or whatever. Bring your group banner. You'll need something to tie your battle ribbons on.

The revel will be a potluck, with the addition of the Mist's famous cheap soup kitchen, for something hot and hearty, so bring bowls with your other tableware.

The Airplane field cannot be reserved so please come early (9 a.m.) if you can. The games will kick off at 10 a.m.

For more information contact Maythen of Elfhaven (phone omitted).
