Due to a scheduling conflict, Beltane will NOT be at Bort Meadows this year. Instead, Beltane Coronation will be at the Placer County Fairgrounds in Roseville, which is east of Sacramento on Hwy 80. Many thanks to Gleda Eriksdotter, who responded quickly and efficiently to a call for help.
The Chronicler is not sure, but she thinks the Wooden Spoon contest for Beltane will be unleavened bread. Check with Annette of Fairmont for more information.
The Arachne's Web competition for Beltane will be knitted lace. There will also be a workshop on tatting.
The Arts and Sciences Championship competitions to be run at Beltane are: Food (baking, main dish); Science in Daily Life (ink/paint/dye); Instrumental Performance, Vocal Performance, Dancing, and Acting (story telling).
From The Page (May, 1986):
Beltane Coronation Festival will be held at the Placer County Fairgrounds in rosevill, May 10 and 11. The gates will open at 4 p.m. on Friday. there are flush privies on site and showers. The site fee is $2.
No cars will be allowed on the eric. Use the access roads and then park in the parking lot. Their Majesties request that no cars be within sight of the eric.
There will be a Queen's Championship Lists on Sunday. There will be a Wardlord melee lists on Saturday. The Pied d'Argent competition will be Pavanne and galliard. The Wooden Spoon Competition will be for Italian Renaissance dishes, either main dish or side dish. Please include your recipe. The Arachne's Web competition will be for knitted lace. The Arts and Sciences championship will begin at this event.
The Principality of the Mists business meeting will be held on Sunday at Beltane. The time will be announced. All Principality officers are reminded that written reports are due at this time.
