From The Page (July, 1985):
SITE: Zumwalt Park, along the Fern Ridge Reservoir. There are 30 acres of meadow and forest. All privies and water will be trucked in (water is city water and govt. approved). No open fires are allowed. Pets must be on a leash at all times. The reservoir borders the site. There is a boat ramp and swimming is permitted. You are responsible for the safety of yourself and your children near and in teh water. There are no lifeguards. There are many shade trees, and mosquitoes should be expected. There are numerous grocery, variety, fast food, and gas stations within 5 miles of the site.
WAIVERS: All minors must have a signed MINOR waiver.
SITE FEE: $4. ($2 for ages 6-12; under 6 free). The site will open 2pm Friday and close 8am Monday.
WAR EVENTS: Open field, bridge, castle, and boat battles. Champions' battle.
NONCOMBAT EVENTS: Siege cooking (ingredients provided); drawing of war scene or map (materials not provided); scout run; nine-man morris; javelin accuracy (bring your own war-legal javelins); best troop identification; best excuse for not attending the king's muster; and best "No s---, there we were," war story.
ARCHERY: Due to park rules, there can be no archery on site.
BLACK KETTLE: This An Tir cooking guild will be doing a late night soup kitchen on Friday night for travelers. A tavern will be held Saturday night, with a whole beast being roasted on a spit and other wondrous fare. And a breakfast Sunday morning.
