From The Page (December, 1985):
On January 18 the Barony of Tarnmist will hold a Faschings Balle. All persons of Germanic and non-Germanic background are cordially invited to a Faschings-Balle and banquet. Come taste real traditional Germanic foods, learn German folk dances and celebrate the Fasching/Carnival season as they do in the lands along the Rhine and Neckar.
The banquet will consist of many delicious and unpronouncable dishes: pfannkuchen suppe, rindfleisch rouladen, kartoffel pfannkuchen mit apfelmus, rot cabbage and faschings kuchles.
There will be contests for best overall faschings costume, best mask, best costume, most German costume, most heraldic costume/mask and most ridiculous landesknecht (male or female).
There will also be a German dance class, Zwetschkin männle making and marzipan making.
The cost of this wonderful event will be $5 per person 'til December 1, $6 'till January 1 and $7 at the door. Crash space is available by prior arrangement. The event will probably run from 11 a.m. to midnightish. Site information should be available in next month's Page.
