From The Page (September, 1985):
September 14 come and warm up for Coronet.
This year's Sunset Shire Tourney will be a rather laid back picnic and games tourney to be held on the usual hilltop in Half Moon Bay.
The major events will be a potluck picnic, various archery competitions, children's games, an available eric and we hope, a relaxed and enjoyable time for everyone.
Competition will be held in a combination of interesting archery contests, preparation and display of picnic contributions, and the children's contests. If enough interested fighters show up to fight, a Shire Champion will be chosen as well.
There will be prizes for the winners in all competitions.
The site is on a ridgeline and has beautiful views. It is also a fine location for flying kites; those of you who wish to fly your kites in interpersonal competition or just for fun, please bring them.
The site has fine period privies and a large charcoal cooking pit (BBQ) available, and this year will be mowed before the tourney. However, the site has no water, we will provide some, but you should bring anything you wish to drink, including water.
The only regret we have is, as this will be more or less an all day revel, that there will be no revel after the tourney.
The site will open at 10 a.m. Competitions and games at noon, picnic at 2 p.m. and breakdown and site clearing by dark. There will be no site fee, but the hat will be passed and donations will be freely accepted.
