From The Page (December, 1985):
The good people of Southern Shores do invite all to their sixth annual "Get Your Jingles Out" revel to be held on Friday, December 6 at the Saratoga Fire Hall in Saratoga.
Back by popular demand will be, among other festivities, Best Use of Bells on a Costume, the Bell Hunt contest, the Silver Tongued Devil contest, and Bell the Cat. There will be a cooking competition -- make a dish like a bell. (Since bells peel, clang, ring, sound and can be pulled, this contest should be interesting.) As well, there will be a $5 or less, S.C.A. theme gift exchange. (For gift ideas, do visit your local "S.C.A. Supply House" also known as Cost Plus.)
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with a pot luck in the round to be served promptly at 7:30. Kitchen facilities are available for warming food and non-alcoholic beverage will be served. Revelers are encouraged to bring banners, eating utensils, goblets, candles, along with any other beverage they may wish to consume.
A site donation of $2 will be requested at the door. For more information, contact the co-autocrats, Oriana Dreamweaver (phone omitted) after 6 p.m. or Ambrosia de Andalucia (phone omitted), 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
