Archery Tourney -- Cloondara

June 15, 1985 (AS XX)

From The Page (June, 1985):

Archers, take heed! The Shire of Cloondara prays that all are most welcome to join with us in our second annual Archery Contest and Field Banquet, to be held on Saturday, June 15th. Contests of skill, Fantasy Target Games, and a catered or potluck Banquet on the Field will take place from noon till sunset on the Archery Field in Golden Gate Park.

Bring your war bow and combat arrows, as standard war rules will apply to equipage in our combat-weapon target contests, which will include a wolfpack attack, monster hunt, and speed shooting. Competitors are encouraged to wear full armor, although there will be no actual combat. IKAC rounds will be shot, using standard wooden target arrows, so if interested get a copy of the rules beforehand.

The field banquet will take place about 3 o' the clock, with your choice of either bringing potluck dishes or buying a period style Forest Feast prepared by our own feastmaster Seosamh O Choda. His menu will include cold roast chicken with sauces, apple cheese tarts, lemonade and mint drinks, soda bread with honey butter, and more! This will be by advance reservations only, which will close on June 11. Enclose a SASE for tickets to be returned to you. Any reservations received after June 8 will be held for you at the feast. Mail checks for $3.50 to (and payable to): (contact info omitted).

Pray do bring period furniture, place settings, and costumes, as this event will be public, and remember that the field can get windy. There will be no fires of any kind, or gate fees, and dogs and tiny archers must be restrained.

Come join us, whether to test your skills at the noble art of the bow, revelry, or both, as you please. The Archery Field is to be found ... (omitted).
