From The Page (October, 1985):
The safest place to be on Samhain (actually October 26) is the Borderwinds Samhain potluck celebration (actually in Carreg Wen). By assembling together in the guise of your favorite unhuman form, perhaps any wayward evil spirits will fail to take notice. Any forces of darkness that are present are required to wear a white or silver band of ribbon or cloth, in plain sight, thus binding them to non-agression for the evening.
Admission is a paltry $1 site fee for adults and a potluck contribution for those arriving before 9:30 p.m.
The contsts are: best costume, best mask or face make-up, best carved turnip, best paper doll of an unhuman, best ghost story (recited or read), and best ward (to turn away evil). Other activities include (but are not limited to): apple bobbing, candle wax divining, palm reading and dancing.
The site is the Alpha Club at (address omitted). This is a wet site. The schedule is: doors open at 7 p.m.; feast at 8:30 p.m.; celebration at 9:30; clean up and leave 4 a.m.
For further information contact the autocrat, Douglas the Alchemist, at (phone omitted).
