From The Page, July (1985):
All fighters of chivalrous heart pay heed. A tourney is to be held on Saturday, July 20, under the pines of Waller Park in Santa Maria, CA, to decide the next protector of Borderwinds. The site will be open at 11 a.m. and lists will close at noon. The tourney should begin no later than 12:30, all who desire to enter the lists must be carrying a favor for someone, since there will be a Court of Love held in March of next year in honor of our Protector's Lady or Lord. Any who wish to fight for the title of Protector of Borderwinds must be prepared to attend ALL Borderwinds events through to the protectorate tourney next year. The tourney will be held so that there may be an overall winner as well as a winner of the title of Protector.
Contests for the day include Best Favor, Best Toast and our long-awaited Tale Ending contest. If you have extra boffers, please bring them as we hope to have a children's boffer tourney if we have the equipment.
Prepare to feast, toast and celebrate with us after the tourney, as there will be an informal twilight picnic potluck revel at the park until 7:30. All who plan to join in on the potluck should bring one period dish containing enough to feed eight persons. Also, feasters should bring adequate tankards, trenchers and utensils for those in their party.
The autocrat is Karen of the Emerald Sea (contact info omitted).
Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
