From The Page (May, 1985):
This year the Barony of Allyshia celebrates the 1300th anniversary of the Pictish victory over the Northumbrian horde in 685. Come join our revelry on the weekend of May 31st, June 1st & 2nd. Among the competitions are archery, knife and spear throwing, the best period beverage (hot or cold, alcoholic or not), body looting, and the best song or poem in praise of the Picts. There will be a list for the Dandelion Lord, the Defender of Allyshia, and a cooking contest using the spoils of a raid on a Northumbrian camp -- bring cooking utensils to bake a Victory Cake! There have also been sightings of a stag and a unicorn in our forests -- bring blunt arrows to hunt the stag. As for the unicorn, in order to lure it into our camp, each lady maintains or regains her maidenhood and should bring a dozen of her favorite cookies (with recipe, of course!) with which to tempt him.
The tourney site is at Freshwater School: (directions omitted). For more information, please call the AUTOCRATS: Harvy II (contact info omitted). Come one and all and leave the 20th century behind!
