The Nineteenth Year

De Anza Prize Tourney -- Southern Shores
June 3, 1984 (AS XIX)

From The Page (June, 1984):

On June 3, Southern Shores is presenting the first Annual DeAnza Prize TOurney and Demo, at De Anza College in Cupertino.

The tourney and demo will take place at the annual De Anza Day Fair, with an expected attendance of over 10,000. Southern Shores has participated in this fair for the past four years.

We will have a treasure chest melee, a pole arm melee, and one (possibly two) single combat melees for prizes. Among the prizes to be won are mail coifs, camails, armor (from Steven of Norham), and real weapons. Among the treasure chest prizes you will find costumes and shield blanks. An entry fee of about $1 will be charged for the lists, to defray part of the cost of the prizes.

We have a compact site with trees, grass, and ample water and facilities. Since this is also a demonstration, we ask that all equipment, encampments, and entertainments be as period as possible. We welcome entertainers, especially singers, musicians, and jugglers. Pavilions are welcome; however, pavilion space is limited, so check with the autocrat for available space.

AUTOCRATS: Caithlin de Corwyn (contact info omitted), and Steven of Norham (contact info omitted).
