The Nineteenth Year

Purgatorio Coronation
August 25-26, 1984 (AS XIX)

From The Page (August, 1984):

PURGATORIO CORONATION is being held August 25-26 on private property, the McCreary Ranch on Old Swanton Rd., 14 miles north of Santa Cruz.

The gate will open at 4pm Friady (not before). The site fee is $2 per person.

1) Bring your own water (suggested: 5 gal. per person per day).
2) Plan to take home your garbage.
3) No open fires. (This area and season is high fire danger, and the owner of the property is very concerned that there be no fire incidents. Cooking fires are only to be in portable barbecues or campstoves; in other words, contained and off the ground.)

There will be showers available in the morning hours. The water for shores comes from the creek. Do not drink it! Plan to give a 25cent donation, as we must pay for the butane used.

There will be a dumpster on the site, but since this is not a park, it must not overflow. There will also be a water truck on site, filled with drinkable water, but it is principally for fire control.

Parking will be restricted to the posted areas. Watch for signs.

The dust on teh road will be heavy. Please restrict your travel on the road (in other words, do not run to town for a quart of milk). Once you are on site, please plan to remain.

The College of St. Katherine will be operating a Tavern, selling light and dark beer, apple juice, wine, and assorted snacks. The Tavern will be open Friday & Saturday evening, and during the day on Sunday. Weekend passes and individual tokens will be on sale - price to be posted.

There is ample space for those who wish to bring horses. The creek is available for watering. The area has a choice riding trail.

Royal Rounds and other archery activities will be set up by Wolf Peacemaker.

There will be a merchant's square. It will not be on the eric. Any merchant who is not a member of the SCA will be asked to pay a $10 merchant fee along with the $2 site fee. SCA membership documents will be a membership card, mailing label, or cancelled check. Diverse goods will be sold.
