From The Page (November, 1984):
Goode m'lords and ladyes,
Once again 'tis time for the Golden Rivers Anniversary Banquet. The date for this sumptuous feast and delightful evening's revel is Saturday, November 24th. The doors shall open at 4pm with the feast beginning at 5pm.
The tentative menu is:
Beef barley soupe, mushroom leeke soupe,
Sweet greens in cheese sauce, golden squash ramkins,
Pears in hazel nutte cream, assorted pasties,
Sweat bredes, salmon cakes,
A roast of beef, chicken with rice stuffing,
Nun's cake (A Golden Rivers famous favorite).
The paltry sum for this fabulous feast is $7 per person (a mere pittance for such a meal). During the course of the meal we hope to have tumblers, jugglers, dancers, wandering minstrels, magicians, and music to delight your eyes and ears as you treat your tastebuds. Of course, don't forget the dancing after the feast. Our lovely autocrat is Anne Fawnehaven, (phone). To purchase your tickets, send your mere $7 along with a SASE to Panacea Wyrtcunning (contact info omitted). All those wishing to provide entertainment or help serve, please contact Gleda Eiriksdottir (phone) as soon as possible. Entertainers and servers will receive a discount on the price of their meal of course!
The site of the banquet is the "Finnish Temperance Hall" in Rocklin. Note: No, it is not a dry site!
