The Nineteenth Year

Blackspire Maneuvers -- Crystalmist
August 11-12, 1984 (AS XIX)

From The Page (August, 1984):

The date for the Blackspire Maneuvers has been changed from August 4-5 to August 11-12. The place is Carrick Park two miles east of Weed, on the northern marches. The autocrat is Francis of Saxony in Crystalmist: (phone), call before 11:10 pm.

To get there (directions omitted). Once there, you will find parking space, a one-acre lawn with two acres of trees, and lawn for camping; on three sides of it, a 200 gpm spring and creek, space for archery practice, a communal fire area, flush privies, water, and a short walk to the grocery for supplies.

The Maneuvers are intended to show our friendsin the Kingdoms our facilities and gather ideas for a larger inter-kingdom event on the Marches. To our friends in the Marches and Cynagua: we need ot practice what we must do about the pink dragonstone incident perpetrated on us by Glyn Dwfn. The deputy seneschal of An Tir has suggested that some An Tirian fighters (knights too) will come down for us to practice on. We will have a bardic circle, gaming, and herb identification contests for non-combatants.

It is cool in Crystalmist, but a good warmup for Pennsic or Purgatorio. We have a full moon this weekend, and are contemplating moonlight events.

Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
