The Nineteenth Year

Heron's Pool -- Allyshia
May 18-20, 1984 (AS XIX)

From The Page (May, 1984):

1299 years ago, the Picts defeated the armies of Northumbria. Come revel with us May 18-20, as we celebrate this victory. The BARONY OF ALLYSHIA invites one and all to HERON'S POOL. A list will determine the Dandylion Lord, champion of Allyshia. Archers too can test their skill at a Royal Round and other contests. Or perhaps your skill lies with the spear -- our Baron has agreed to be, once again, not only sponsor of, but target for, a javelin-throwing contest. There will also be contests in wagering, period fire-starting, heraldry, prizes for most enticing bodice and most outstanding codpiece, and many other games of skill or chance. Design a war arrow for us and gain a prize. A stag hunt will be held Sunday. But no celebration is complete without food (or so maintains the autocrat). Saturday night there will be a bounteous nine-course feast served to you amid fine and diverse entertainments. This meal promises to be a treat to all of your senses. The cost is $10 per person. Our site is ample for all types of pavilions, plus having some kitchen facilities and flush toilets. A tavern will operate throughout the weekend and there will be a bardic circle both nights. Setup begins at 6pm Friday. Saturday's activities will begin where appropriate. There is no site fee.

Please write or call for tickets as early as possible, before May 14th in any case. Write or call Kallessa Panthera (contact info omitted), or Marianne Lytlumbria (phone). Freel free to call late. Once again, come and enjoy our hospitality and company, and help us make this a very good event.

Directions (omitted).
