From The Page (December, 1983):
The Yule Season is upon us and the SHIRE OF ESFENN is once again holding its annual Yule revel.
The revel is on Saturday December 17 at San Felipe Community Center in Hayward. Doors open at 5 pm.
There will be a potluck in the round, so please bring a dish to feed 6-8 people. Also bring your eating gear. There is a kitchen for warming your dishes. During dinner, Morley or Less will perform for your entertainment. Also during dinner there will be a Song (or Poetry reading for those who can't sing) competition on the theme "A Winter Feast". It need not be original and the prize is a silver plated goblet.
There will be a cooking competition. The category is Yule Breads. Please include your recipe.
Other competitions include:
Best decorated table celebrating the Yule season.
Outrageous heraldry: draw a device that is technically correct but would NEVER pass.
Plus other on-site competitions to be announced at the revel.
The Golden Beans will also be making an appearance in the Gaming competition. A nice prize awaits the person with the most gold beans at the end of the evening.
For the less competitive, there will be dancing after dinner.
For any other information, please contact Mikhail of Wallachia or Melrina of Redhaven at (phone).
