From The Page (July, 1983):
MAD DOGS AND ENGLISHMEN GO OUT IN THE NOONDAY SUN. Not wishing to see a job only
one third done, Encinal will be hosting an Englishman Tourney on Saturday, 23 July,
at Serra Park in Sunnyvale. An Englishman is personified by the rigorous discipline he
applies both to himself and to those around him, so that all will act as a single,
unstoppable unit. And he tends to keep this up no matter what the circumstances. Therefore
this tourney will consist of back-to-back team melees of various types starting
at 9am and continuing until 5pm with a 15-minute break for tea
at 4pm. At that time the accumulated points will be tabulated and the winner
announced and adorned. After this, there will be a revel and housewarming party
at the new home of Keridwen o'r Mynydd Gwrdd and Gwendolyn the Rat Keeper (and their
houseboy Paul). For more information about site or event, call Llelan Dyfddnwld
(phone). For more information about the revel, call Keridwen at (phone).
DIRECTIONS: (omitted)
There is a rumor that the MAD DOG himself will attend the tourney.
Encinal does not leave its tasks 2/3 finished. See how tweed and fur mix in September.
