From The Page (July, 1982):
On July 24, Sunset Shire will hold its first Champion's tourney. The tourney will be held on a beautiful hilltop in Half Moon Bay, with a 360 degree view, weather permitting. A list will be held, with the winner receiving the title "Champion of Sunset Shire". The list will be somewhat unusual, in that, at the start of each round the fighters will draw lots to determine what weapons they will use.
The number of children in the Society is increasing, and their importance within the Society is becoming more visible... So... there will also be a multifold competition for children, ten and under, to pick a "Shire Children's Champion". We anticipate five different events for children. There will be prizes for the champions, and of course for all participating children.
The site is private property, and the owner has donated its use. It is his request that when using this site we leave our dogs at home. The site has privies, a few fixed picnic tables, one BBQ pit, and a deck area that overlooks the hills and ocean. It does not have water or garbage cans, so, please bring your own water, and any other desired liquids, and please remove your own refuse.
Coastal summer weather is unpredictable. It could be sunny with afternoon winds, or overcast and calm, as high as the 80's or as low as the 60's. We only guarantee that it will be cooler than more inland areas.
Revel to follow at the home of James the Fisher and Mairi NicColin. Maps at the tourney. For more information call the Autocrat James the Fisher (phone).
