From The Page (June, 1982):
Once more the trumpet's call is heard as the land of Silver Desert and Starkhafn (Caid) call for mercenaries this August 7 and 8 to see if once again Caid must keep the barren wastes of Tonopah and safeguard its inhabitants: a sevile rabbit and two horned toads.
The scenarios planned at present are: bridge - field, road, encounter battle, position defense and banner search. Archers will be used in the first three scenarios. These encounters will be fought under Kingdom of the West war rules. Plate is not proof. All bows must be 30 lbs. or less; the arrows, 28" and taped.
There are other non-fighting events being planned. The ladies are encouraged to test their strength at tug o' war, there will also be games and contests for those who wish to participate less martially. Those contests for war points are: Bawdy songs, original and period; mythical animal needlepoint; brewing wine or ale; jewelry and footwear (material and design to be in period with persona).
The site is again Peavine Creek, Tonopah (Nevada). The site has no water except a swiftly flowing stream. No open fires are allowed, but the park provided barbques and tables. Unfortunately this site is non-reservable, so please arrive early to hold spaces. There is also a limited amount of spaces, so please try to carpool and tent together.
Directions: (omitted). If you've questions about the rules or wish to be a Mercenary, please contact Ceridwen MacAoudhegain (contact info omitted) or Silver Desert: Conner FitzJames (phone) or for Starkhafn: Kathern of Sandesward (phone).
