From The Page (February, 1983):
Come help Pren Tal celebrate Imbolc, the Celtic festival of earliest spring. In honor of the holiday and Brid, the goddess of hearth fires, smithcraft, healing springs, and bardic song, we are holding a Barbecue and Games. Fires will be provided; bring your own food, drink, and utensils (including soup bowls). In case of inclement weather, a rain shelter will be provided.
Contests on brewing (your choice of potable) and soup-making -- please prepare ahead. Soup may be reheated over the barbecue or you may wish to bring your stove. Prize for soup making will be soup bowls, brewing prize as yet undetermined. NON-FIGHTING games will include hunker-hauser, tug-of-war, various board games, and pin-the-shadow-on-the-ground-hog. We also have use of the playground equipment and grassy field (non-fighing only).
The site is Mitchell Park in Palo Alto, ... (directions omitted).
