The Seagirt Fighting and Arts Tourney will be held on July 18, at (address omitted), starting at 10 am. There will be a picnic - bring food, games, etc.
Fighting: Rounds will be as follows: 1. sword and shield, 2. mace, 3. two-handed weapons, and 4. pandy-bats (prize for the most inventive). There will be games as well, including a nine man morris competition.
Arts contests: 1. Authentic pouch and contents - prize will be a pair of folding scissors; 2. Original riddle in period form - the subject of some modern thing used in the Current Middle Ages (duct tape, velcro, coleman stoves, etc.) - prize to be a copy of Poplollies and Bellibones; 3. Original lyrics to a period dance - what if you wanted to bransle and there were no musicians? Prize to be Winsor and Newton paints; 5. Misleading subtlety - fowl that seems to be a fish, meat that seems to be fruit (no marzipan scenery or gingerbread architecture, please.) There are no cooking facilities at the site. This is an Arts Pentathalon - a grand prize will be awarded.
