From The Page (November, 1981):
The Investiture of the new sovereigns of the Principality of the Mists will take place on Sunday, November 22nd at Mills College in Oakland. We will spend this day as medieval folk did in the winter, in hunting and revelry.
The day will start with a Boar Hunt for the active; games, dancing, music and other activities for the more sedate. The Hunt will consist of armored fighters playing "boars" (armed with two maces), "hunters" (a shorts pear) and "mastiffs" (dagger only). All weapons must have thrusting tips, armor and weapons inspection will start at 10:00 a.m. Unarmored "hounds" are also involved and anyone over 14 is invited. For those under that age, the last Hunt of th eday will be for children armed with boffers. In the hall will be board and group games, dancing, teaching, and demonstrations of various crafts. We urge people to bring projects, and a Principality Pillow will be there to needlepoint.
At 4:00, there will be a break to change clothes, and set out food for judging. As this is a potluck, we expect everybody to bring a contribution, and we will assume that it is entered in the contest unless notified otherwise. The categorise are: main dish, vegetable, bread, dessert and other goodies. Remember to bring plates, utensils and something to drink. Dinner will begin at 5:00, and there will be entertainment and opportunities for presentations to the sovereigns.
At 7:00, the last court of Maythen and William will begin. After that will be the Investiture and Court of the two new sovereigns. As this is a Sunday, the populace is hereby begged to keep presentations short. After court, the revel will continue with dancing, singing and merriment.
Any musicians or entertainers, as well as those with questions, suggestions, or (please!) offers of help, can contact the autocrats: Megan Silverstar and Edwyn the Player (contact info omitted) or Richard of Seahaven (contact info omitted).
