Brigand Hunt -- Southern Shores/Westermark
November 22, 1980 (AS XV)

From The Page (November, 1980):

The hunt for the brigands is on! Be a part of the Westermark or Southern Shores posse sworn to rid the world of these parasites.

The hunt will be at Pescadero Creek Park in Westermark on Saturday, Nov. 22 and will begin at 11:00 a.m. This is an undeveloped park and the closest privys are approximately 1/2 mile away.

All supplies must be carried in with the combatants. Supply dumps are open targets (with supplies returned after the specific skirmish in which they are captured). Points will be given for the overall appearance of each posse. The weather will probably be cold and misty. This event is designed to bring a touch of realism to winter skirmishing.

SCA archery armour must be worn by all participants. ONLY boffer weapons and javelins will be allowed. There will be NO rattan weapons at this event ... PERIOD!

I.) Specifications for Javelins: 1. Approximately 3/4" PVC pipe of medium or heavy weight. 2. Not less than 4' nor more than 5' in length. 3. Standard SCA thrusting points adequately attached to the tips.

II.) Specifications for Boffers: 1. Standard sword, ax, or dagger. Any exotic weapons are subject to approval at the site. 2. No sword shall be over 3' long. 3. The boffer weapons may be weighted (ala Duke Paul's fighting boffer daggers) by a small insert in the hilt of the weapon - subject to approval at the site.

III.) Specifications for Bucklers: 1. 12" maximum diameter. 2. Rims must be smooth but need not be padded.

Directions: (omitted). Please contact Sir Thomas the Incomplete at (phone) or Lord Catalin di Napoli at (phone). They will send you additional information.

Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
